Dogs are carnivores, but these creatures are sporadically seen consumption lawn. Why do dogs consume grass? Is the dog hungry? Does the lawn have substances that are not found in the dogs manufactured foodstuff? Have you ever wondered why the dog has unexpectedly decided that it is time for the lawn mower to leave?

Grass consumption is a usual canine actions even though some owners would be astonished as several puppys do not reveal this behavior. Wolves and foxes, the progenitors of the modern day disciplined dogs eat all the part of their prey. The prey can be a plant eating animal. In the fierce, food is scarce and the dogs will eat all parts of its prey. The grass and the plants in the intestines of the herbivores is eaten by the dog. Thus, grass and plants turn into a standard part of a dogs diet because dogs have acquired a taste for grass.

There is no perfect motive why present day dogs eat grass. Both healthy and sick dogs are seen sporadically munching blades of grass. Although it was speculated that while tame dogs no longer need to hunt to survive, the diet is nutrient deficit. A dog will have a meal grass to fill up the nutrient deficiency. This is almost certainly the motive why some city dwellers give their dogs with grass supplements. When you let the dog out to do its business in the yard the dog may take the chance to munch on a mouthful of grass. To the dog the lawn is one big salad plate.

Dogs eat about anything. To a dog the spoiled foodstuff in the garbage cans, the mammal poop, the unearthed dead animals are appetizing delicacies. No question these animals suffer from abdomen upsets from time to time. A dog eats grass to produce vomiting. This is their way of expelling substances that do not agree with their digestive systems.

Owners need not be too concerned about the grass eating pattern of their dog. It is after all better than eating poop. However, it is important for the dog owners to make sure that the grass is free from toxic chemicals that are destructive to the dog. Prevent the dog from chomping on a lawn that is just now sprayed with fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. Furthermore, the dog may also eat several kinds of mushroom that can poisonous to our furry friend. Several dogs may act as if they are eating grass when in fact they are just sniffing the smell of other animals to get to know information on who bypass in their territories.
